In a move highlighting the region’s reputation as a powerhouse in sustainable food production, Manjimup will host a world-renowned regenerative farming expert to learn the ways of the future.
Dan Kittredge — founder of the Bionutrient Food Association, based in United States of America — will lead a two-day immersive on-farm workshop on September 22 and 23, hosted by Southern Forests Food Council.
Mr Kittredge said he was “genuinely excited” to connect with professional farmers in the region.
“This is a place of incredible diversity and potential, and I look forward to sharing practical knowledge that can help farmers here unlock even greater value from their soils and their produce,” he said.
With decades of experience, Mr Kittredge had built a global reputation for demonstrating the link between soil health and nutrient density in food.
“The future of farming is not just about yields, but about growing food that nourishes people at the deepest level,” he said.
“Nutrient-dense food production is where ecological health, farmer viability, and human wellbeing intersect — and that’s the work I’ve committed my life to.”
SFFC executive chair Arthur Wilson said bringing international talent to the region was about equipping farmers for the future.
“Our role at SFFC is to back our growers with the knowledge, connections, and opportunities that strengthen their resilience and capacity,” Dr Wilson said.
“Hosting a global authority like Dan Kittredge is about more than a workshop – it’s about investing in the future of this region as a leader in sustainable, innovative food production for Western Australia.”
Mr Kittridge will be in the State for the upcoming Regenerative Food Systems conference in Perth on September 17 and 18, followed by the Grounded Festival in Bridgetown the following two days before heading to Manjimup for the workshops.
