The Phoenix Scout Group reached out to local businesses requesting raffle prizes to raise funds for the pizza oven. However, local business Fine Memorials decided to donate the oven itself to the group.
Emma Childs, chairman and Beaver team member of the Scout Group, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Fine Memorials for their incredibly generous donation of a pizza oven to our Scout Group.
“This amazing gift will give our young people the chance to make and cook their own pizzas at camps next year and will also help us to raise vital funds by selling delicious pizzas at future events. Their support will make a real difference to our members, and we’re so grateful for their kindness!”
The oven was presented to the scout group at a presentation which took place on Wednesday evening (November 13) and was attended by Ian Hale, the director of the business, Ashley Hale, and Charlie Abrams-Hale, symbolising three generations of the family-run Fine Memorials business. Also in attendance were the scouts and scout leaders from the Bridgwater Phoenix Scouts Group.
Ashley Hale said: “When Emma from the Bridgwater Phoenix Scouts reached out asking for a raffle prize to help them raise money for a pizza oven, we knew straight away how much this would mean to the children.
“The scouts give young people aged 4-14 the chance to learn, grow, make friends, and discover the world beyond a screen — and that’s something we feel strongly about. Instead of offering a small prize, we wanted to do something that would genuinely make a difference, so we donated the oven itself. Groups like this sit at the heart of our community, and we’re proud to support the values they pass on to the next generation.”
