Liverpool’s Premier League opening game against Bournemouth was stopped after Antoine Semenyo was reportedly racially abused.
The game was halted by referee Anthony Taylor midway through the first half after Semenyo had made the official aware of the incident.
Taylor made his way over to the touchline, where he then spoke to both managers and a Liverpool club staff member, who was later in conversation with a police officer.
After a moment of confusion where the reason for the stoppage was unknown, Sky Sports commentator Peter Drury confirmed the reason.
Clips have emerged on social media of Semenyo preparing to take a throw-in in an attacking area when he was heckled by a Liverpool fan.
