LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky recently said that the future of work will not belong to people with the “fanciest degrees” but to those who are adaptable, forward thinking, eager to learn, and ready to embrace artificial intelligence (AI). Speaking at a fireside chat at the company’s San Francisco office, Roslansky said this shift marks a major change in what employers value. “I think the mindset shift is probably the most exciting thing because my guess is that the future of work belongs not anymore to the people that have the fanciest degrees or went to the best colleges, but to the people who are adaptable, forward thinking, ready to learn, and ready to embrace these tools,” Ryan Roslansky said.He further added that this new outlook opens opportunities for more people. “It really kind of opens up the playing field in a way that I think we’ve never seen before.”Roslansky also highlighted the importance of human qualities alongside AI skills. “I believe that the human component to all of this is quite frankly going to be most people’s secret weapon. So, empathy, communication, adaptability, being able to actually just have a conversation with someone. Don’t forget the human skills. Those are critical to being successful in anything that you’re trying to do moving forward.”LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky on AIDuring the event, the LinkedIn CEO also said that he relies on AI for nearly every important email he sends to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, describing the technology as essential for high-stakes communication with his boss and other world leaders. “A lot of the time when I’m sending a super high-stakes email to Satya Nadella or other CEOs or world leaders, you’ve got to make sure you sound super smart when you do that,” Roslansky said.The CEO further clarified that he doesn’t use AI to write entire emails from scratch. Instead, the technology serves as an interactive writing partner that guides him through a step-by-step process, asking questions to help determine the best approach for each response.
