Notably, this Ethereum Layer-2 project by Consensys is moving closer to rewarding early participants with $LINEA tokens. Users can now check if their early interactions on the network qualify them for rewards.
According to Linea and Crypto Twitter (CT), there are reports of around 750,000 eligible wallets. The snapshot was taken earlier, as per prior announcements, locking in who gets a piece of this zkRollup pie.
Linea is a Layer-2 zero-knowledge (ZK) rollup designed to scale Ethereum, developed by Consensys.
It leverages a zkEVM for full Ethereum Virtual Machine equivalence, enabling seamless deployment of existing Ethereum applications and cost-efficient new ones.
Linea processes transactions off-chain, batches them, and posts compressed data to Ethereum, reducing costs while maintaining security through ZK proofs. Its proof system, utilizing Corset and Gnark, generates SNARKs that are verified on-chain. However, it relies on a trusted sequencer, posing potential censorship risks, as users cannot force the inclusion of transactions.
Linea’s token, $LINEA, supports ecosystem growth, with distributions mirroring Ethereum’s genesis. The network has over 1.65 million users and 17 million transactions, driven by initiatives like the Linea DeFi Voyage and Surge programs, which incentivize liquidity and engagement. Linea aims to strengthen Ethereum’s economy by offering high-performance and a vigorous DeFi infrastructure.
The Linea Association is set to distribute 9.3 billion LINEA tokens (10% of the 72 billion total supply) to reward early adopters and active participants in the Linea ecosystem.
The eligibility is based on Linea Experience Points (LXP) earned through activities like bridging assets, interacting with dApps, and participating in community events, or LXP-L points from providing liquidity in the Surge program.
A snapshot was taken July 29th-30th, 2025, with 749,000 addresses deemed eligible after rigorous Sybil filtering removed 800,000 wallets. The checker went live on September 3rd, 2025, and the claim window officially opens on September 10th, 2025, and will remain open until December 9th, 23:59 UTC 2025, a period of 90 days.
