As the policies of Donald Trump start to take effect, the coming disaster is becoming clear. The policy of imposing tax increases through tariffs on Americans is quickly raising prices on what most people need to buy regularly.
The stock markets are beginning to react negatively to Trumpian unorthodoxy. He will now blame everyone but the real culprit: HIMSELF.
His incompetence is quickly being recognized and evident in his horrendous polling data.
His grifting and never before seen corruption should now be evident to anyone but the most deluded.
His racism drives every decision he makes.
Firing a person for giving accurate data about his bad job creation record is unbelievable. Next he will fire the weather person for accurately forecasting rain on his golf.

He must go so that his self serving economics can be thrown out and the common good of all citizens become the goal of government policies.

An amendment to Dan Lee’s proposal
I would like to support and expand upon the article by Dr. Dan Lee, entitled “A peace proposal for the war in Ukraine” (Aug. 17). I appreciate Dr. Lee’s attempt to try to put together a way forward for the “land swap” part of the negotiations surrounding Ukraine.
Dr. Lee’s proposal includes an immediate ceasefire (enforced by the United Nations), then a six-month period for the displaced residents of the war-torn territories of Ukraine to return to their homes, and then elections (sponsored by the U.N.) involving those living in the disputed regions.
In the past 17 years, I have traveled 15 times to the Balkans, including extensive travel to the most devastated parts of Bosnia, where a war waged in the 1990s. Thirty years after that war, the scars remain.
Signs warn hikers not to enter certain trails because of mines planted 30 years ago. Bombed-out homes and buildings dot the Bosnian countryside. The owners cannot return home for fear of being shunned or worse. The unwritten message is that if you are not the right ethnicity for that area, you cannot live there.
Ukraine could play out the same way. It was pretty clear before the war which sections of Ukraine spoke and identified mostly as Russian (Russophone) versus mostly Ukrainian. Perhaps a friendly amendment to Dr. Lee’s proposal would be to follow those ethnic lines. And if an election is eventually held, the “cooling off” period may need to be many years, not months.
