I read your recent article (Daily Republic, Sept. 28) about coyotes in and around Cordelia Villages.
We have lived in Cordelia Villages for 43 years. Since that time, hundreds or even thousands of homes have been built. The coyotes were here first; they have a right to live just like we do.
If people are concerned about their cats and dogs, they should keep them in and watch them closely if they are outdoors with them.
I don’t feel that the wildlife in our area should be penalized because people want to live in the country, but don’t want to be surrounded by the native wildlife in the area.
I grew up outside of Auburn and we always had coyotes, mountain lions, rattle snakes and sometimes even bears in our area. We survived.
Wild animals can’t help it if humans are taking over their habitats.
We must learn to live and coexist with animals.
