The New Heights Community Resource Center has a brand-new basketball court and pavilion, thanks to the Leadership Tuscaloosa 2024-25 class project. According to the press release, “New Hoops 4 New Heights, was designed to create a lasting space for youth and families to gather.”
“This new basketball court represents more than just a place to play. It is a place for our students to build teamwork, resilience, and community. At New Heights, we believe in giving our young people opportunities to grow both on and off the court,” said Dr. Donmonique Morgan, Principal of Children’s Center and STARS Academy at New Heights. “This court will serve as a reminder that with the right support, every student can rise, compete, and thrive.”
The community was introduced to the new court and pavilion through a dedication event, celebrating the fulfillment of the 24-25 Leadership Tuscaloosa class project and vision.
“This project is about more than building a basketball court and pavilion — it’s about creating a lasting place for youth and families to gather, connect and grow,” said Karen Burklew, project spokesperson and member of the 2024-25 class. “We’re thrilled to see it come to life and to celebrate with the people who made it possible.”
