SEOUL, Sept. 10 (Yonhap) — The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM) on Wednesday hosted a seminar to discuss potential cooperation among South Korean and U.S. companies in the blockchain industry.
The U.S. business lobby hosted the Blockchain Seminar 2025 in Seoul, inviting around 70 business officials to exchange visions on South Korea’s role in the global financial market amid the transformation.
Blockchain platforms allow participants to share and verify transactions or data through a distributed ledger system, with the decentralized structure making unauthorized forgeries or alterations extremely difficult.
The event came amid Washington’s recent push to enhance its competitiveness in the digital assets and blockchain sectors.
During the event, participants stressed the need for Asia’s No. 4 economy to utilize blockchain technologies to attract foreign direct investment and emerge as a major financial hub in the region.
“At this pivotal moment, Korea has a unique opportunity to harness this innovation, and AMCHAM is proud to serve as a bridge between the United States and Korea in advancing digital finance and fostering sustainable growth,” AMCHAM Chairman James Kim was quoted as saying by the business lobby.
“With the right policy environment and stronger collaboration between government and industry, Korea can attract greater foreign investment, modernize its financial infrastructure and position itself as Asia’s leading hub for digital finance,” Kim added.
