The Labour Party’s hedge fund donor has paid out a dividend of £360 million after reporting a jump in revenue and profits in the year of the general election.
Quadrature Capital, which made the largest single donation to the Labour Party ahead of the election, paid out the dividend as revenues jumped to £1.2 billion from £588 million in the year ended January 31 2025, with profit before tax rising to £553.9 million from £56.2 million.
The hedge fund set up by Greg Skinner and Suneil Setiya donated £4 million to Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour last year, while Daniel Luhde-Thompson, a strategic adviser to the firm, also donated £250,000 to the party during the election campaign.
Quadrature Capital uses algorithmic trading strategies and it is also a major funder of climate change organisations through its charitable foundation, the Quadrature Climate Foundation. The foundation was set up six years ago and has committed more than $1 billion to sustainable development and climate initiatives, according to its website. Quadrature Capital did not make a donation to the charity last year, having made a donation of £67.1 million in the prior year.
