A pair of Seattle Kraken wingers will return with hardware, as Eeli Tolvanen and Kaapo Kakko have won bronze with Team Finland.
Both Tolvanen and Kakko made their mark in Finland’s 6-1 win over Slovakia in the bronze medal game.
Tolvanen finished with a pair of assists, bringing his final tournament tally to one goal and three points in five games. He registered assists on Finland’s second and third goals today.
Kakko added another goal to his strong tournament performance. He completes his first Olympic Games with three goals and five points in six games. Kakko adds a bronze medal to a collection of international medals that includes gold at the U-18s, world juniors, and the World Championship.
Kakko and Tolvanen will now return to Seattle with additional confidence as they both look to end this important season strongly.
For Tolvanen, he’s set to become a UFA and will be looking to cash in. Whether it’s in Seattle or elsewhere, the 26-year-old provides a skill set that teams will be looking to add to their rosters.
Kakko is under contract for an additional two seasons, but after injuries derailed the start of his campaign, he’s looking to increase his production and fight for more ice time.
With 26 games remaining, Kakko and Tolvanen will attempt to help the Kraken earn a playoff spot.
