Peshawar – Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah chaired a high-level meeting on Monday to review the provincial government’s relief measures during the holy month of Ramazan.

The meeting conducted a detailed assessment of ongoing initiatives aimed at providing relief to the public across the province. Officials informed the forum that Ramazan Dastarkhwan arrangements are being organized on a daily basis in all districts for deserving individuals and travellers to facilitate them at the time of Iftar.

The Chief Secretary directed the district administrations to ensure transparency, quality, and proper management in the arrangements.

During the briefing, it was shared that strict price control measures are being implemented throughout Ramazan. Continuous inspections and enforcement actions are underway in various markets to curb hoarding and ensure compliance with officially notified price lists. Price control magistrates are conducting daily visits to bazaars, while fines and other legal actions are being taken against violators.

The Chief Secretary emphasized that essential food items must be made available to the public at government-prescribed rates and that profiteering will not be tolerated. He particularly stressed close monitoring of prices of flour, sugar, pulses, vegetables, and fruits during the holy month.

The meeting was informed that additional magistrates have been deployed at various locations to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and ensure consistent oversight of price control and other administrative matters.

The Chief Secretary directed district administrations to remain proactive in the field and ensure prompt redressal of public complaints.

In addition, the meeting reviewed progress on the Peshawar Beautification Plan, promotion of investment under public-private partnership initiatives, and ongoing actions against illegal encroachments.

The Chief Secretary instructed the relevant departments to adopt a coordinated strategy to improve urban aesthetics, ensure smooth traffic flow, and enhance civic facilities.

He reiterated that the government is committed to providing maximum relief to the public and ensuring transparent and effective governance.

The special measures undertaken during Ramazan, he said, are aimed at facilitating citizens and safeguarding their interests. He directed all departments to ensure full implementation of government policies through effective coordination and inter-departmental collaboration.
