AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – The second annual More Than Golf Invitational continued Monday at Old Barnwell Golf Club, with a kids clinic drawing 50 students from Oakwood Elementary and First Tee Aiken.
The Golf With Us clinic offered students a full afternoon of putting, chipping and foot golf drills alongside club professionals and college golfers.
Students worked on golf basics throughout the afternoon, with some still being fitted for the right glove.
The clinic gave each participant the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the game while working alongside club professionals and college golfers.
First Tee Aiken CEO Summer Watson said the event reflects the chapter’s broader growth goals.
“We are a growing chapter. We are expanding our efforts here in Aiken County and the surrounding area and we’re really starting to see more students jump on board since adjusting our schedule,” Watson said. “We typically see 80-100 students involved in programming and it’s something we want to continue to grow over the next several months.”
On the tournament side, moving day was complete, with Tulsa and Denver tied for the lead at 18-over. Tournament co-hosts Columbia and Auburn University trailed the leaders.
Augusta University’s Lady Jags moved up from sixth to fourth place heading into the final round.
