KFC lovers are scrambling to guess to secret location of a world first first for the takeaway giant — a fried chicken vending machine.
The incredible new technology set to launch somewhere in Sydney on October 18, is set to take our nation’s love for fried chicken to a different level.
Punters will be able to roll up and receive a serving of the Colonel’s finest golden chicken straight from the machine with a new item the first feature on the menu.
KFC are keeping the secret location close to their breast, but the strong mail is it will be somewhere around the famous Spice Alley at Chippendale.
A hot and spicy trail is being left as KFC drops small crumbs of information about the machine’s location, which will be harder to find than the menu for its launch.
KFC has turned the release into a treasure hunt, releasing cryptic clues on social media that fans must crack to pinpoint its exact location.
“At KFC, we love surprising our fans,” Sally Spriggs, Group Marketing Director for KFC said.
The stunt taps into Australia’s long-running love affair with Japanese food and particularly its love of all things fried, with new flavour Sweet Tokyo Hot & Crispy accompanying the promotion. The limited-edition chicken already available on menus nationwide from Tuesday.
“The vending machine will be restocked at regular intervals throughout the activation on 18 October and will be supplied directly by a local KFC restaurant,” a KFC spokesperson said.
Variations on the chicken delivery machines are hugely popular in Asia, with KFC China deploying autonomous chicken-dispensing robots around Shanghai.
The machines look like tiny minivans with side windows revealing packaged fried chicken have been referred to as everything from rolling vending machines to autonomous restaurants on wheels.
