Fast food chain KFC has applied to extend the opening hours of its outlet in Prestwich until 5am.
The American fried chicken brand has asked Bury Council to extend its opening hours at the branch on Bury New Road, providing an extra six hours of service to customers.
The application is listed on the authority’s website and shows that the brand, known for its bargain buckets, gravy and chicken fillet burgers, currently operates until 11pm Sunday to Thursday, and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
However, the company wants to extend beyond midnight and open for drive-thru and delivery service until 5am, Monday to Sunday.
It has also applied for a late-night refreshments licence, which would be valid between midnight and 5am, seven days a week.
Its current licence means customers can go into the branch and buy food until 11pm Sunday to Thursday and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
Deliveries are currently accepted until 10.45pm, according to KFC’s website.

However, if the new licensing application is accepted, the restaurant itself would open until midnight every day, and delivery and drive-thru services would then operate between midnight and 5am.
A public consultation on the plans is open on Bury Council’s licensing portal, and representations on the application are being accepted until December 1.
KFC has been contacted for more information about the plans.
