
MANILA, Philippines — The 8th Entertainment Editors’ Choice (The Eddys) is honoring 2024’s biggest box-office stars, led by Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards, whose reunion film “Hello, Love, Again: made history with P1.6 billion in global earnings. The sequel to their 2019 hit became the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time and cracked the Top 10 in North America’s weekly box office.

Vice Ganda will also bring home the Box Office Hero award for “And the Breadwinner Is…,” which earned P460 million and extended his Christmas blockbuster streak.
Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia drew crowds with their on-screen reunion in “Un/Happy for You,” which grossed over P450 million worldwide.

Rounding out this year’s honorees are Vic Sotto and Piolo Pascual (“The Kingdom”), and Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid for the critically acclaimed “Green Bones.”
The Box Office Hero award, revived post-pandemic, recognizes actors whose films achieve commercial and cultural milestones.

The 8th Eddys will be held July 20 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City. A delayed telecast will air on Kapamilya Channel and Jeepney TV, with international streaming via iWant starting July 27.

Presented by Playtime PH with Newport World Resorts and ABS-CBN, the event is co-produced by Brightlight Entertainment and directed by Eric Quizon. It is organized by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd), a non-profit organization composed of past and current entertainment editors from national broadsheets, top tabloids, and leading online portal.
