Kano gov’t earmarks N1.3bn for female drugs reformatory institute – Peoples Daily Newspaper

The Kano state Executive Council has approved the release of the whopping N1,383,318,648.25 for conversion of Gaya orphanage home to a female drugs reformatory institute.

The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya state’s this at a press conference on the outcome of 30th Executive Council Meeting, which was held on Wednesday, 6th August, 2025.

During the press briefing, held at his office on Friday, Waiya said the amount involves construction of a standard transit centre in Gaya Local Government area.

Waiya added that the council had also approved the sum of N3,749,120,452.25 for revocation and re-award of contract for the construction of Jaba-Gayawa road.

This is in addition to the approval of N6,147,010,996.10 for revocation and re-award of contract for the dualization of Dakata-Yadakunya (Bela) road in Ungoggo Local Government area of the state, according to Waiya.

The Commissioner also disclosed that the council had approved the sum of N522,038,561.21 for construction of Badgery to Yusuf road in Nasarawa Local Government.

According to the Commissioner, ministry of works had received a total of N11,801,488,657.81, while Ministry of Land and Physical Planning got N882,968,746.38.

Waiya disclosed that the state’s Ministry of Health would receive N1,664,780,936.57 for renovation/rehabilitation of Sabo Bakin Zuwo Maternity Hospital (Jakara) at the cost of N364,508,253.28.

Out the fund, general renovation of existing infrastructure at School of Health Technology Bebeji would gulp N294,469,189.83.

The ministry would also spend N113,986,236.00 on the supply and Installation of solar energy stems to five maternity facilities.

“Supply of Drugs and Consumables to Hasiya Bayero, Murtala Muhammad, and Yadakunya Hospitals (July-September 2025) – N112,350,593.00.

“Renovation/Rehabilitation of Newly Procured House at Zango Quarters, Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital – N272,177,172.84

“Supply of Working Materials to Two Newly Renovated Wards at Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital – N128,006,452.00

“General Renovation and Construction of Additional Facility at Zakirai Primary Health Care Centre (Phase I) – N379,282,039.62″, said Waiya.

The commissioner pointed out that the government of His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, remains fully committed to its vision of rebuilding a better Kano State.

” These approvals reflect a purposeful and strategic approach to governance, targeting key areas that will bring tangible dividends of democracy to the good people of Kano State.

“We urge the citizens to continue supporting government policies and remain vigilant in monitoring the implementation of these projects, as we collectively strive to move Kano State to greater heights”, he remarked.

Waiya state’s that the approval came, following thorough presentations and justifications by the respective ministries in the state.
