Bollywood’s famous choreographer and filmmaker, Farah Khan, has now stepped into the world of YouTube and shares regular vlogs on it. She visits celebrity homes and shares her experiences through engaging videos. Her latest stoppage was Baba Ramdev’s Acharyakulam in Haridwar, a sprawling ashram spread across several acres where the yoga guru resides. Farah was amazed by the vast premises and jokingly referred to it as a “palace,” but Baba Ramdev humbly called it his simple hut, explaining that it was constructed using Jodhpuri stone.
Among the many things that caught her attention, a beautifully designed kamandal worth one lakh rupees left her particularly stunned. Farah was accompanied by her cook, Dilip, during the visit. Showing her around, Baba Ramdev explained, “Just as Mahatma Gandhi created simple spaces in the Sabarmati Ashram, we have built ascetic huts here. Palaces are made for others to live in, while I have kept a hut for myself.”
Hearing this, Farah humorously compared him to Salman Khan, saying, “You and Salman are alike; he also lives in a modest 1BHK while building grand spaces for everyone else.” The yoga guru then took Farah to his new hut, which surprised her with its luxurious interiors. Laughing, she said, “This is a hut? Baba, give us one or two of these huts too!” Ramdev responded with a smile, explaining that the structure was made entirely of Jodhpuri stone without using any chemicals, and that the interiors carried a natural sandalwood fragrance. The room was also crafted from cedar wood, adding to its elegance.
Inside, Farah noticed the striking kamandal and was astonished to learn that the handcrafted vessel cost nearly one lakh rupees. Despite the grandeur, Baba Ramdev revealed that he still prefers to sleep on the ground, a habit he has maintained since childhood. During her visit, Farah also participated in a yagya, fed cows and calves in the ashram, and toured the educational spaces for children. When she stepped into the massive kitchen, she was left speechless. Baba Ramdev informed her that there are nearly 20-25 such kitchens across the campus, each capable of preparing meals for nearly 50,000 people every day.
