Juhi Chawla once walked off the set of Ishq after a disagreement with Aamir Khan over a kissing scene, a feud that lasted years before the two stars reconciled.
In the glitzy world of 90s Bollywood, Juhi Chawla and Aamir Khan were among the most loved on-screen pairs. Together, they gave audiences timeless romantic hits like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke. But behind that magical chemistry, there was also a real-life fallout, one that began on the sets of their 1997 hit Ishq.
The film, co-starring Ajay Devgn and Kajol, was a box office success, but not many know that during its shoot, Juhi and Aamir had a serious disagreement that almost ended their friendship.
It all began with a kissing scene. According to reports, the script of Ishq originally included a light romantic moment between Juhi and Aamir. While Juhi had initially agreed, things changed when Aamir reportedly wanted to modify the scene slightly to make it appear more natural.
Juhi didn’t take that well. She felt uncomfortable with the change and refused to go ahead. What started as a creative difference quickly turned into a heated argument. Juhi eventually walked off the set, refusing to film the scene at all.
Aamir Khan later opened up about the incident in an interview, admitting that tensions between them were high. He said, “Juhi and I fought five or six times during the shooting of Ishq. It went on for quite some time.”
For years after, the two maintained their distance. The once-hit on-screen pair who gave Bollywood its cult romantic moments didn’t speak for a long time, despite being frequent collaborators in the late 80s and early 90s.
Time, however, has a way of mending wounds. Years later, Juhi and Aamir met again and decided to leave the past behind. They rebuilt their friendship and often speak respectfully of each other in interviews today.
Juhi, who now appears occasionally on-screen, continues to remain one of the most charming actresses of her era, while Aamir remains one of Bollywood’s biggest perfectionists.
Apart from Ishq and Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, the duo also shared the screen in films like Daulat Ki Jung, Tum Mere Ho, and Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, each of which showcased their chemistry in different shades, from comedy to heartfelt romance.
Their story, though marked by disagreements, remains one of Bollywood’s most fascinating off-screen dynamics, where professionalism and emotions clashed, but respect ultimately prevailed.
