Join Veterans At The Taylor County Expo Center For The 39th Annual Tet Reunion

Supporting our veterans has always been deeply personal to me. My father served, my brothers, nephews, and many members of my extended family proudly wore the uniform. I always wanted to serve myself, but due to a birth defect, I was never able to enlist, a reality that stayed with me my entire life. Because of that, I’ve made it my mission to honor, support, and stand beside those who did answer the call. Events like the TET Reunion matter because they remind us that service doesn’t end when the uniform comes off, and neither should our gratitude.

For nearly four decades, the Abilene Grunts Association and Texas Veterans Chapter One have provided a place where veterans can reconnect, remember, and feel recognized. In 2026, that mission continues with the 39th Annual Tet Reunion, returning to Abilene with a message that is broader and more inclusive than ever before.

Once focused primarily on Vietnam veterans, the “TET Reunion” is now open to all veterans from every branch of the U.S. military and every era of service, along with their families. This is no longer just a reunion, it’s a community gathering built around respect, remembrance, and shared experiences.

Veterans are encouraged to attend with spouses, children, grandchildren, and friends. Attendees are invited to bring photos, uniforms, letters, medals, and memorabilia from any period of service. Every story matters, and every generation is welcome.

The event features food, drinks, desserts, military displays, and a USO-style show filled with music, laughter, and patriotic spirit. It’s designed to honor service while creating a welcoming space for families to learn, listen, and connect.

The reunion takes its name from the TET Offensive, a major event during the Vietnam War that began on January 31, 1968, during the Vietnamese New Year. While the historical significance remains important, today’s TET Reunion represents something larger, veterans from all conflicts standing together, united by service rather than separated by era.

The 39th Annual Tet Reunion will be held Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Taylor County Expo Center, Display Building, located at 1700 Texas Highway 36 in Abilene. Doors open at noon, and admission is free.

Those needing special accommodations are encouraged to call in advance. For more information, contact David Vargo at 325-690-0750 or Donna Stone at 325-672-4003.

The event is funded through donations only, and all contributions are sincerely appreciated.
