Explore Ecology invites the community to start the year by giving back to the ocean and having fun at its first beach cleanup of 2026, 10 a.m.-noon Sunday, Jan. 11 at Arroyo Burro (Hendry’s) Beach.
“Every piece of litter you remove helps protect marine life and supports a healthier coastal ecosystem for all,” Explore Ecology said.
Meet at the Watershed Resource Center (the blue building at Arroyo Burro) to sign in and pick up cleanup supplies. Participants are welcome to bring their own supplies. No RSVP is required.
As a thank you, every participant will receive a coupon for a free cup of chowder from Santa Barbara Shellfish Co., Explore Ecology said.
“While you’re at the beach, visit the Watershed Resource Center to learn simple, everyday actions you can take to keep local creeks and watersheds clean and healthy,” Explore Ecology said. Community service hours are available.
