The Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JNAPD), Jigawa State Chapter, and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Women’s Committee have called for greater inclusion in recruitment processes and other government policies in the state.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service, Ismail Ibrahim, and issued to newsmen.

The call was made during separate courtesy visits to the Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri, reaffirming their commitment to inclusivity and collaboration within the state’s public service.

Leading the JNAPD delegation, the State Chairman, Honourable Adamu Shu’aibu Jigawar Tsada, said the visit was aimed at formally introducing the newly constituted executive members of the association and strengthening institutional ties with the Office of the Head of Service.

He called for increased inclusion of persons with disabilities in government recruitment and access to official privileges, stressing the need to translate existing policies into measurable opportunities.

The chairman commended the Jigawa State Government for what he described as progressive interventions targeted at empowering persons with disabilities, particularly the establishment of a disability fund, which he said has grown to over N90 million and is making a meaningful impact on beneficiaries across the state.

In his response, Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri expressed appreciation for the visit and pledged continued support for the association. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equal opportunity, noting that inclusivity remains a key pillar of the state’s public service reforms.

In a related development, the NLC Women’s Committee also visited the Head of Service to introduce its newly elected leadership and outline its agenda.

The Chairperson, Salma Iliyasu Abubakar, advocated greater representation of women in government appointments at all levels. She emphasised the need for strategic collaboration with the state government to enhance the productivity and welfare of women workers.

Responding, the Head of Service welcomed the initiative and assured the committee of his readiness to work closely with the women’s leadership to advance their objectives within the civil service framework.

The engagements are part of ongoing efforts to deepen inclusivity, promote gender balance, and strengthen stakeholder collaboration within Jigawa State’s public service.
