Jessica Simpson was not going to let a little wardrobe malfunction get in the way of her first Today performance in nearly 20 years.
The “A Public Affair” singer appeared on the morning show on Tuesday for its Citi Concert Series, but all didn’t go totally as planned.
While singing a medley of her hits “I Think I’m in Love With You” and “With You,” on stage, her corseted top slipped down to reveal her pink bra. But undeterred, the multi-hyphenate took the moment in stride and kept going like a pro.
Simpson laughed off the little mishap in an interview with the Today hosts after her set.
“Of course, I have a malfunction here and everywhere,” she said. “But it’s okay. I think my boob stayed in, so that’s good.”
This week, the pop star returned to the New York stage for the first time since 2006. During her set, Simpson also performed “Blame Me,” a song off her new album, Nashville Canyon Pt. 1, which came out in March. The singer’s last project before that was a Christmas album released in 2010.

“I felt just a calling to just use my voice again in a whole different way,” she told the hosts of Today. “I was working on the collection for so long, and still am. But I don’t know. There is just something inside of me that always has to sing, and now I’m ready to be doing it on stage in front of people again.”
She also called her return to music a “healing” experience after her divorce in January from Eric Johnson after 10 years of marriage. “My life literally flipped upside down and I really just had to focus on my purpose,” she said on Today.
