The story of Jason Momoa’s casting as Lobo in Supergirl is almost the stuff of legend, as it feels like the role he was destined to play. When the former Game of Thrones standout originally auditioned for Warner Bros to join the former DC Extended Universe, he was hoping to take on Lobo before eventually being cast as Arthur Curry/Aquaman. After James Gunn and Peter Safran took over as DC Studios co-CEOs, the tide changed almost immediately for Momoa, as he was officially cast as Lobo in Supergirl for the new DC Universe.
The first trailer for DC Studios’ second theatrical movie, which was released in December, only offered a small tease for Momoa’s alien bounty hunter in a quick shot that lasted less than a second. Thankfully, 2026 comes with a thrilling new update on this front for DC fans. In a new round of social media videos, James Gunn shared look at Momoa celebrating his casting before showing the best look at his Lobo yet in footage from Supergirl.
The new tease shows Momoa’s Lobo screeching to a halt on his motorcycle in a crowded area after riding into the area engulfed in flames. He is also smoking a cigar, and fans can see him decked out with his classic leather jacket and long, unruly mane of hair.
The footage then switches to a close-up shot of Momoa’s face, providing the best look yet at the full visual for his highly anticipated DC villain. Complete with the character’s notable dark eye markings and a small splash of blood on his forehead, Momoa also dons a pair of sharp fangs in his teeth, offering a menacing smile that should scare anyone in his path.
