TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) has called on the Indonesian National Police to ensure that the entire investigation process into the explosion case at SMAN 72 Jakarta high school adheres to the Child Protection Law and the Juvenile Justice System Law. KPAI Chair Margaret Aliyatul Maimunah asserts that the status of the suspected student must be the primary consideration for investigators.
“Because the suspected perpetrator is still a minor, the entire investigation process must take into account the perspective of the child,” said Margaret to Tempo on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
Margaret conveyed that KPAI has reviewed the condition of the suspected student at Cempaka Putih Hospital. She stated that the physical condition of the child is improving, but still undergoing medical treatment. “We are unable to conduct direct interviews because the person is still under medical care,” said Margaret.
She also reminded the public to respect the privacy of the identity of the child being examined. “We ask all parties to adhere to the prohibition of publishing the child’s name, address, and photo,” said Margaret. “We do not yet know the whole truth, so it is best to wait for the results of the police investigation.”
