Reigning and undisputed ONE women’s strawweight kickboxing world champion Jackie Buntan of the Philippines and the United States wants to prove one thing only — that she’s still the woman to beat in her weight class.
But in order to do that, Buntan has to exorcise her own demons, defeat her tormentor, and reclaim her stolen glory.
In a recent interview with ONE Championship, Buntan said her primary goal is to step into the ONE Championship ring, put on a show, and solidify her spot as the top female strawweight kickboxer on the planet.
The Bay Area resident told the world’s largest martial arts organization:
“Every time I step into the ring, collecting belts doesn’t matter to me. It’s being great and striving for that and having a better performance each time.”
Buntan is out to avenge a previous loss to Polish opponent ‘Always Hungry’ Stella Hemetsberger, defend her strawweight kickboxing throne, and bring the belt back to California — all before next weekend concludes.
Fans won’t have to wait long to see Jackie Buntan back in action inside the ONE Championship ring.
Filipina-American superstar Jackie Buntan will stake her ONE women’s strawweight kickboxing world championship against Muay Thai titleholder ‘Always Hungry’ Stella Hemetsberger of Poland.
The two lock horns in the main event at ONE Fight Night 40: Buntan vs. Hemetsberger II on Prime Video, which broadcasts live in American primetime on Friday, Feb. 13 from the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Fans in the United States and Canada can catch all the action live and absolutely free with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
A win for the 28-year-old Buntan here could set her up for a third fight with Hemetsberger, continuing her bid to become a two-sport ONE world champion. A defeat, however, would mean that glory goes to her Polish opponent.
