Emmerdale star Jonny McPherson opened up on his character Liam Cavanagh’s prostate cancer fears as he issued a warning.
The actor appeared on ITV’s Lorraine on Monday (September 22), where he spoke to host Lorraine Kelly about Liam’s new storyline on the soap.
In recent scenes, Liam confided in Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson) about his unusual toilet habits, though he refused to seek medical help.
Speaking on Lorraine, Jonny explained that his character didn’t want to cause alarm to his fiancée, Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), after her own cancer struggles.
“I’m sure it’s frustrating to watch… [With men] there is definitely a tendency to kick the can down the road,” he added.
“It’s the unique selling point of a soap is that you have an opportunity to watch storylines play out in real time… If one person and watches this and goes, ‘I should get this checked out,’ then we’ve done a great job.”
