
Good Morning Britain is in dire need of a presenter shake-up, and this week’s explosive news round-up has really highlighted its weaknesses. The ITV breakfast show has been a mainstay on the channel since it launched back in 2014 and has launched the careers of many of its presenters. In that time, we have seen many hosts come and go, with the most recent being Piers Morgan’s explosive walkout back in 2021.
But this week has truly shown where TV bosses need to improve, and it starts with Ed Balls. On Monday (March 2), we saw the former Conservative MP return to the helm alongside his co-star Susanna Reid as they discussed the latest news. But halfway through the show, his 55-year-old co-host was forced to present alone as she grilled his wife, the Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper.

This isn’t uncommon on the show, and has been an issue viewers like myself have flagged ever since Balls joined the roster of presenters back in 2021. Unsurprisingly, ITV bosses have continued to stonewall viewers by ignoring the issue and hoping that it goes away. But after the explosive debate between the Labour minister and Ried earlier this week, it’s about time they made some changes. ITV need to scrap Balls for good and bring in a respectable presenter who isn’t swayed by political alliances. Here’s a list of candidates who would be perfect for the job:
