Ted Lasso Season 4 is officially in the works at Apple TV+ after months of speculation and updates, but is another familiar face going to return alongside star Jason Sudeikis?
As filming for the series commences, a fan-favorite was recently spotted on set, leading to new hope that another original character will join Sudeikis and the ensemble for the latest chapter. In addition to this possible cast addition, plenty of other details about Ted Lasso Season 4 have already emerged, including little glimpses and teases about what’s in store for their favorite characters.

After Season 3’s arrival in spring 2023, Ted Lasso is officially making a Season 4 comeback. Production officially began in Kansas City as teased in the first-look photo, above. Filming has also taken place in London and Richmond in the months since the first tease in July, as seen in various images of Sudeikis filming in and around the area posted on social media by fans. Stay tuned for updates about production, which could indicate when Season 4 will arrive.
In a statement, Sudeikis, star and executive producer, said, “As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap.’ In Season 4, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”
Matt Cherniss, Apple TV+’s head of programming, added, “Ted Lasso has been nothing short of a juggernaut, inspiring a passionate fanbase all over the world, and delivering endless joy and laughter, all while spreading kindness, compassion, and unwavering belief. Everyone at Apple is thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with Jason and the brilliant creative minds behind this show.”
Sudeikis will serve as an executive producer alongside new addition Jack Burditt who joins Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, Bill Wrubel, Bill Lawrence, Jeff Ingold, and Liza Katzer. Meanwhile, Brett Goldstein and Leanne Bowen will also executive produce and serve as writers alongside Julia Lindon and co-producers Sara Walker and Phoebe Walsh. And Dylan Marron is slated to serve as story editor.

As mentioned above, Jason Sudeikis is reprising his titular role alongside other returning stars, including Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift, with newcomers Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsey, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely, who is stepping in as Ted’s son, Henry. Meanwhile, Phil Dunster was spotted on the Season 4 set in Richmond, seemingly hinting at Jamie Tartt’s return, but no official confirmation has been made.
We’ll keep our fingers crossed for his return, along with other favorite stars Nick Mohammed, Toheeb Jimoh, and more. But only time will tell who will appear.

Brett Goldstein appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live in June 2025 to discuss his HBO comedy special, during which he offered some interesting comments on Ted Lasso. When Kimmel pointed out to Goldstein that the cast had previously gotten emotional celebrating their third and “final” season, he wanted to know if Goldstein thought the show was really over then. “We did all cry and we did all hug, but I also think if I’m honest, a lot of us, when we were hugging, said, ‘We’ll come back, won’t we?'”
Ultimately, Goldstein admitted, “I felt like we’d come back, but I didn’t know.” When Kimmel wondered if the upcoming fourth season would be the show’s last, Goldstein responded with silence and raised eyebrows, noting that it was more of a question for Apple than him, “I think we’d love to do it forever, but I think there’s a limit…” he said.
The logline for Season 4 teases Ted’s return to Richmond as he takes on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.
For those who have yet to discover Ted Lasso, the series follows an American coach who is plucked to helm an English football team, AFC Richmond. Initially, Ted is hired with the hope that he’ll fail, but his boss Rebecca ultimately warms to the Kansas-native’s charms as he turns her failing team into an optimistic bunch of players. It’s a real fish-out-of-water tale that’s resonated with viewers across tough times in recent years as the show debuted amid the pandemic in 2020.
Based on the preexisting format and characters from NBC Sports, Ted Lasso was developed into the series it is today by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Kelly, and Hunt. The series also garnered some serious acclaim in its first three seasons, winning several Emmys and other big-time TV awards.
