Clare County Council must become ‘winter ready’ to deal with any extreme weather events that hit the county, and to learn from Storm Éowyn.
That is according to two county councillors who tabled separate motions at the October meeting of the local authority calling on the Council to ensure Clare is fully prepared to deal with any extreme weather events similar to those experienced in recent years.
The council was also urged to publish a report on the update to the Clare Emergency Management Plan, incorporating key learnings from Storm Éowyn.
Lisdoonvarna Councillor Joe Garrihy (FG) has said he wants the local authority to be proactive in preparing for and responding to extreme weather events, so as to ensure the safety and well-being of communities are protected.
Doonbeg councillor Rita McInerney (FF) tabled a motion asking the Council to publish a report on the update to the Clare Emergency Management Plan incorporating the key learnings from Storm Éowyn.
