A recent study reveals Irish households are experiencing a significant increase in weekly grocery bills, averaging €41 more than in 2022. This has led to widespread cutbacks in non-essential spending, reduced entertaining at home, and delayed home improvement plans, with a majority of people feeling more anxious about household costs. HelloFresh highlights the issue, offering a solution with predictable meal pricing to alleviate financial stress.
Irish households say their weekly grocery bill has jumped by an average of €41 since 2022, with 72 per cent spending more on food overall. According to new research from HelloFresh , 65 per cent of people have cut back on non-essential spending, 60 per cent are hosting or entertaining at home less, and 64 per cent have delayed or changed home improvement plans as a result.
Overall, 79 per cent of Irish people feel more anxious about household costs than they did three years ago. The biggest financial pressures cited are: Speaking on the steep rise in costs, Annita Forte, Brand & Marketing Communication Manager at HelloFresh said: “The rising costs of supermarket groceries are a real concern for Irish households. People are cutting down on non-essential spending, delaying home improvement plans and hosting less. Dinner shouldn’t be another source of stress.” She continued: “We keep our pricing consistent week to week so families can plan without surprises.
