An Iranian dissident activist, Masoud Nazar, was shot dead in Istanbul, Türkiye’s largest city, in what human rights groups fear may have been a politically motivated killing.
According to reports, Nazar, an Iranian-Kurdish Sunni activist living in exile, was gunned down by unknown assailants in Istanbul, where he had been residing for the past ten years.
Sources said Masoud Nazar hailed from Kermanshah, a western province of Iran, and had long been a vocal critic of the Iranian government’s policies.
His killing has sparked concern among human rights circles, with several activists suggesting that the attack may be linked to his political activities.
Turkish police have launched an investigation into the incident, but no arrests or details about the suspects have yet been released.
