US – Palo Alto-based startup Cookiy AI has raised $7m in a pre-seed funding round for AI-based qualitative research.
Cookiy uses AI to conduct AI-moderated voice interviews. Founded this year, the company is developing a platform that combines agentic AI with voice AI, with the aim of identifying motivations, preferences and mindsets.
Liquid2, Converge, GoAhead, and UpHonest were among the investors to participate in the funding round.
According to a press release, Cookiy AI’s ambition is to ‘democratise deep consumer insight’. The funding will offer the company the ability to build its team and expand globally.
Founder and chief executive Davin YC Dong was one of the first engineers at Instagram and has previously held roles at technology businesses including TikTok and Baidu.
Joven Lee, the company’s vice-president of global business and insights, previously worked at Nielsen, Statista and Cint.
Dong said: “The next generation of business leaders won’t wait months for generic reports. They’ll demand insights in days – with context, empathy and action.”
