Curtis Media Group will host its inaugural CarolinaEast Foundation Radiothon Friday, presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina on 103.3 FM.
Funds raised will benefit local patient assistance, the State Employees’ Credit Union Cancer Center at CarolinaEast Medical Center, health care education and patient-facing projects within CarolinaEast Health System, said Brandy Popp, director of public relations for CarolinaEast Health System.
Popp said the radiothon will feature interviews from patients, staff, volunteers and hospital leaders that will tell the story of the CarolinaEast Foundation and its impact on health care in the community.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina offered to match incoming donations during the radiothon, Popp said.
“We are beyond excited for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina’s sponsorship to raise much needed funds for our health care community,” said Jared Brinkley, executive director of the CarolinaEast Foundation. “Their commitment will affect thousands in our area that the foundation supports each year.
“We look forward to sharing with the listening audience how the foundation supports our community and how others can get involved.”
Listeners can tune in to Magic 103.3 FM from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday to hear nine hours of music and inspiring stories, Popp said.
Anyone interested in calling in during the event will be helped with making a tax-deductible donation, which will in turn be matched by Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
“The CarolinaEast Foundation serves a critical role in advancing the health and well-being of our community,” said Joe Peters, vice president of Curtis Media Group. “The upcoming radiothon will reach audiences across eastern North Carolina, ensuring widespread awareness of the foundation’s mission.
“The Curtis Media Group is honored to support this important initiative and looks forward to establishing it as a valued annual tradition.”
In 2025, the CarolinaEast Foundation has served 950 local patients through their patient assistance program, awarded 15 nursing scholarships and 22 community nonprofit grants, Popp said.
All overhead costs of the foundation is covered by CarolinaEast Health System so that every dollar raised fully supports the foundation’s mission, Popp added.
