Admire more than 5,000 beautiful roses at a historic castle’s annual garden display.
This summer, Hever in Bloom returns to Hever Castle, near Edenbridge, giving visitors the chance to learn more about the stunning gardens and stroll among seasonal flowers.
“Hever in Bloom is a wonderful opportunity to truly appreciate our remarkable rose collection, carefully curated over the years,” says head gardener Neil Miller.
“With over 5,000 roses blooming across the estate, prairie-style perennials stretching for one-eighth of a mile in Faith’s Garden, the formal bedding in the Italian Garden, roses in profusion in the Tudor Garden and the Long Border in bloom, there’s much to see!
“We’re also thrilled to showcase the fascinating art of natural dyeing in our dedicated dye garden created by gardener and former fashion designer Felix Green three years ago. It’s a unique aspect of Hever that connects the beauty of our roses and other plants to a rich history of colour.”
There will also be workshops on how to hand-tie your own bouquet of roses and botanical gin tastings inside the Courtyard Shop.
The castle’s team of expert gardeners will be hosting tours around the grounds, including the four-acre walled rose garden.
The flowers on display will include the climbing splendour of Rosa ‘Rambling Rector’ to the delicate beauty of Rosa ‘Ballerina’ and the historical significance of Rosa ‘Anne Boleyn’.
The stag horn tree in Hever’s dye garden will also be on display, and visitors can learn how the tree is part of the natural dyeing process used by Felix Green.
Hever in Bloom takes place from Monday, June 23 to Sunday, July 6 at Hever Castle. You can book tickets online here.
The flower displays are included in a standard entry ticket. You can choose from a garden-only ticket, or upgrade to include entry to the castle itself.
