WASHINGTON (TNND) — The White House shared an emotional video in honor of Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University earlier this week.
In loving memory of Charlie Kirk, a fearless patriot & man of unwavering faith who dedicated his life to America,” the caption to the video noted.
In the footage, Kirk is seen on his wedding day with his wife, Erika, as well as appearing on news segments. At one point in the video, one of his daughters runs up to him before the two hug, while other images show him talking with people at various events.
Kirk’s voice is dubbed over the video, featuring clips from his speeches and interviews.
Only in America is it possible to say, ‘You know what? I don’t like the way the country is going,’ and to do something about it,” he says. “Take that risk. Take that leap of faith. Stay involved. Trust God and act obediently.”
He also quotes Romans 12:2, saying “that God will use all things — all things — for good for those who love Him.”
It’s bigger than you. I want you to remember that. It’s bigger than you. It’s bigger than me. You are here to make somebody else’s life better, the pursuit of liberty and freedom,” he says.
He goes on to say that his fans and supporters, as well as his faith, gave him strength.
During an exclusive interview with Fox & Friends today, President Donald Trump described the moment he learned of Kirk’s murder.
They said, ‘Charlie Kirk is dead.’ I didn’t know what they meant. I said, ‘What do you mean, dead?’ ‘Charlie Kirk was shot’ I just told these people, ‘Get out. Just go,'” he told the media outlet.
The president went on to fondly remember Kirk, adding that Kirk helped him sway younger voters ahead of the 2014 presidential election. He also praised Kirk for his gift of motivating and inspiring young adults.
“He started this really during what would normally be college and it’s become a movement I’ve never seen young people, or any group, go to one person like they did to Charlie,” Trump said.
In honor Kirk, the president ordered all American flags throughout the U.S. to be lowered to half mast until Sunday at 6 p.m.
Trump on Friday announced that Kirk’s accused killer was arrested. The suspect was later identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson.
