Was former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan poisoned in prison? This is what his sister Aleema Khan said at a town hall in Zeteo, where she discussed her brother’s current state of detention, including concerns that military leader Asim Munir would kill Khan and her brother’s loss of vision in detention.
“There must be an underlying condition because he is an extremely fit person,” she explains to Mehdi and an audience of paying Zeteo subscribers. “But it could be poison. It could be some kind of poison.”
“I broke down,” adds Aleema, remembering the moment she heard the news of her brother’s deteriorating vision. “They gave him his second injection and half an hour later they took him back to the prison… We have no information about his eye except what he told his wife, who is also in prison.”
Aleema spoke in detail about the care her brother receives in prison and the care her family seeks to provide him instead. Her insistence on managing Khan’s treatment comes from a distrust of prison authorities and the government, which Aleema called “shameless.”
“‘Asim Munir is going to kill me in prison,'” she quotes Khan telling her younger sister in December. “He shouldn’t talk like that.”
