The medical report of former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan was shared with his family on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This development was confirmed on Friday by the Minister of Information, Attaullah Tarar.
He said the executive director of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) had sent the medical report to the superintendent of Adiala jail. The jail authorities later handed over the report to Imran Khan’s family. The move follows repeated demands from opposition leaders and petitions filed in the Supreme Court regarding the former prime minister’s health.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has again approached the apex court. The party demands full access to Imran Khan’s medical reports. He also demanded the restoration of regular meetings with his family and legal team at Adiala prison.
Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan has expressed serious concerns over the conduct of prison authorities. She said only two brief health notes were presented by the prison director during a hearing before an anti-terrorism court. She described this as a defiance of the authority of the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
The PTI and its allied parties submitted a detailed memorandum to the Supreme Court. The document alleges continued violations of the law and human rights in the treatment of Imran Khan during his imprisonment. The party says court orders regarding family and lawyer meetings have been repeatedly ignored.
According to PTI, access to Imran Khan by his family and lawyers was denied for extended periods. The party said the last family visit took place in December 2025. It added that the prolonged isolation of the former prime minister amounts to torture under international law and Pakistan’s legal principles.
The party also expressed concern over the recent transfer of Imran Khan from Adiala jail to PIMS for an eye-related medical procedure. PTI alleged that the family was not informed about the treatment for several days. He claimed that Imran Khan had been complaining of eye pain for almost two weeks before he was taken to hospital.
Earlier, the Federal Law Minister informed the Senate that Imran Khan was transferred to PIMS at his own request. However, the PTI claims that medical care was delayed despite serious complaints.
The memorandum also highlights alleged non-compliance with court orders, particularly those issued by the Islamabad High Court. The PTI said several petitions seeking protection of the fundamental rights of Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi remain unanswered.
