The interior history of the investigation into the founder and president of the PTI, Imran Khan, concerning social media accounts, was revealed from Adiala prison, Rawalpindi.
According to sources, a special team from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) visited the prison to question the former Prime Minister. The investigation focused on PTIS’s social media activities and how messages are transmitted from prison to the outside world.
During the session, investigators would have asked Khan how his declarations and directives were publicly shared. Who carries your prison message? The officials asked. Sources reveal that the questioning line has visibly angry Khan, who reacted strongly.
In response, Imran Khan would have told the team that there was no designated messenger. Whenever someone meets me, he can transmit the message to the social media team, he said. He also refused to disclose the identity of individuals managing PTIS online accounts.
Khan would have warned the investigators that if he revealed who manages Ptis social media, these people could face the kidnapping or intimidation. According to sources, he insisted that the supporters and party teams are independently ensured that his voice reaches the public.
The NCCIA continued an investigation into PTIS online communications as part of its wider cybercrime surveys. However, Khans’ refusal to share the details adds additional complexity to the probe.
This development is involved in a meticulous examination of PTIS digital platforms, which continue to play an important role in mobilizing party support despite its leadership faced with legal challenges. Imran Khan retaining silence on the operators of these accounts, the authorities should expand the scope of their investigation.
