PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has delegated all authority regarding negotiations with the government or launching a protest movement to Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas.
The chief minister made these remarks while speaking to the media during his visit to Jamrud. He said Imran Khan had transferred all decision-making powers to Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, including whether to initiate talks with the government or launch a protest movement. He clarified that the party’s future line of political action will now be decided in consultation with these leaders.
Speaking about the street movement, the KP Chief Minister said that this was the second important directive of the PTI founder. He added that practical preparations for the street movement have already begun, party activists are actively mobilized and the movement will be successful at all costs.
Commenting on the situation in Tirah Valley, Sohail Afridi said he was not aware of any displacement taking place in the area. He did, however, acknowledge receiving reports that local residents in the Tirah Valley were being forced to sign agreements, which he described as very worrying.
He said that if any issue related to the sufferings of the people of Tirah Valley was officially brought before him, he would raise his voice and ensure protection of public rights. He added that so far no government officials have contacted him about a possible operation in the Tirah Valley.
Talking about the development of the merged districts, the chief minister said that he has already announced a Rs 1 trillion development package for the merged areas. He said the government was taking serious steps to integrate the merged districts into the national mainstream and provide basic facilities to the local people.
He concluded by saying that all decisions aimed at resolving public problems and ensuring political stability will be taken through consultation and within the constitutional framework, and no compromise will be made on the interests of the people of the province.
