Former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, along with his wife Bushra Bibi, are expected to challenge the Toshakhana-II verdict in the Islamabad High Court on Monday. Separate appeals have been prepared and will be filed through senior counsel Salman Safdar.
According to the details of the appeals, the petitioners questioned the credibility of the trial court’s decision, arguing that it was based on the testimony of Inamullah Shah, a witness who had already been dismissed. They argue that relying on such a witness is legally wrong. The appeals also challenge the court’s reliance on an approver’s statement, calling it contrary to established law.
The petitions state that the prosecution has failed to prove beyond doubt the charges against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. They further argue that multiple sentences cannot be imposed for a single offense and that the Special Central Court did not have the legal authority to hear the case.
The appeals also raise objections to the decision to declare Sohaib Abbasi as an approver, calling the move illegal. Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi maintain that the Bulgari jewelry set was preserved in accordance with the rules and regulations of Toshakhana.
Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders on Saturday urged opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to initiate political dialogue with the government. They emphasized that democracy thrives through negotiation, not confrontation or stalemate.
