Congratulations to John Singh, the recipient of the Distinguished Service in ICT Award at the 2025 IITPSA President’s Awards. This award is presented by The Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA) and EngineerIT, for leaders in the businesses of science, engineering and information technology.
A seasoned technology expert and dynamic speaker, John is widely recognised for making complex technical subjects accessible to audiences, particularly through the IITPSA Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Special Interest Group, which he founded and chairs.
Since beginning his speaking journey in 2018, John has built a reputation for clear, engaging communication on blockchain and emerging technologies, focusing on innovation and engagement with the professional ICT community of South Africa.
With over 25 years of experience in ICT systems analysis, John’s expertise spans advanced financial and security technologies, including Bitcoin cryptography, DeFi security, and NFTs. His professional work in enterprise systems was highlighted at the 2019 SAP Africa Saphila Conference, where he presented on integrating SAP using ODATA services.
A dedicated thought leader, John has actively contributed to IITPSA since 2018, particularly within the KZN Chapter, delivering numerous technical presentations ranging from the mathematical foundations of cryptography to Ethereum 2 and game theory in blockchain. He has also provided insightful industry report-backs from major events such as the Blockchain Africa Conference. Through talks like DeFi Security Simplified and NFTs Beyond the Hype, he has helped professionals and investors navigate fast-evolving technologies.
As Vice President of the IITPSA Board and Chair of the REMCO Committee, John has been instrumental in modernising the Institute’s governance processes.
