23-year-old female teacher in a Nigerian government school has recounted a distressing experience of being bullied and body-shamed by a Senior Secondary School 1 (SS1) student, sparking discussions on discipline, parenting, and respect in schools.
The teacher, who teaches Civic Education, said the incident left her emotionally shaken and highlighted the importance of proper upbringing.
While teaching SS1 Civic Education, the teacher noticed a boy in the front row moving around. She asked if he was okay, and he initially replied “yes.”
Later, as she continued teaching, he refused to sit and reportedly shouted, “You no even fine sef” when she left the class. At the door, he added, “You too wowo.”
The experience triggered painful memories for the teacher, who grew up struggling with body image issues and faced repeated body shaming in previous relationships.
She expressed her frustration at parents, saying that children should be properly trained to avoid becoming a source of harm to others.
She said, “You people should train your children well, learn to train your children well so that carry curses they are not supposed to carry or fail in life and you’re blaming your village people…if I utter a word in my pain and curse this boy, it will definitely happen.”
Her account has resonated with many Nigerians, highlighting the need for parental guidance and respect in educational environments.
