BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The Idaho State Police have released more than 550 pages of previously sealed documents in the case against Bryan Kohberger.
Interviews with former classmates and people familiar with Kohberger during his time at Washington State University show a pattern of people who found the confessed killer “creepy,” “off,” and just plain “weird.” Female classmates interviewed by police detail interactions with Kohberger as creepy and condescending, often arguing with them about how wrong their point of view was. One female classmate even recalls Kohberger saying something to the effect that all women in their field of entry will be in trouble once he enters the workplace.

Another classmate told ISP detectives that Kohberger was the only person in their graduate criminology class who was pro-death penalty. A common theme from multiple interviews taken by ISP detectives is that people who interacted with Kohberger often found him strange, quiet, and reserved, and in several cases, outright creepy. One classmate felt so uncomfortable she complained to school officials, who said she should never be left alone with Kohberger.
One classmate, whose identity was redacted in the recently released police files, spoke at length about how she felt Kohberger was a misogynist, often cutting off female professors mid-lecture. She told detectives that there were conversations about how Kohberger might be an “incel” (involuntary celibate) related to his Reddit page and his confrontation with another female. “People in the department thought he was a possible future rapist.”
Bryan Kohberger pleaded guilty to the murders of Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen, and Kaylee Goncalves. He has been sentenced to four consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole. CBS2 is continuing to comb through the hundreds of pages of newly released police documents, and we will continue to update this story as we learn more.
