
Ian Huntley has been attacked in prison, with the Soham child killer said to be ‘fighting for his life’ after the assault. The notorious murderer was taken to hospital after he was attacked by a fellow inmate at HMP Frankland in County Durham.
He remains in a critical condition after the assault, which took place at around 9am. Huntley is serving a life sentence for murdering 10-year-old girls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in Soham, Cambridgeshire in 2002, when he was the caretaker at their school.
The Prison Service, Durham Constabulary, the North East Ambulance Service and the Great North Air Ambulance Service have all been contacted for statements.
