Hyundai Motor Securities announced on the 27th that it will appoint Professor In Hoh of Korea University, a digital finance expert, as an additional outside director at the 72nd general shareholders’ meeting to be held on the 26th of next month. The company aims to secure future growth momentum by strengthening digital capabilities.
Professor In Hoh is one of the leading authorities in digital finance and blockchain, having previously served as a member of the Financial Services Development Deliberation Council under the Financial Services Commission and an advisory member of the Korea Fintech Association. He graduated from the Department of Computer Science at Korea University and received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Southern California.
After serving as an assistant professor at Texas A&M University, he is currently the director of the Blockchain Research Institute at Korea University and a professor in the Department of Computer Science.
A Hyundai Motor Securities representative explained that the appointment of Professor In Hoh was driven by the necessity of technical understanding for establishing diverse digital strategies amid rapid changes in the securities industry, such as the institutionalization of security token offerings (STOs) and the advancement of AI-based asset management.
Currently, Hyundai Motor Securities is focused on IT infrastructure innovation, including next-generation system development, and is participating in the ‘KDX Distribution Platform’ led by Korea Exchange in preparation for the expansion of the STO market. In particular, the company views STOs as a core business for the retail sector and plans to discover various investment assets for individual investors.
A source from Hyundai Motor Securities stated, “Professor In Hoh is expected to significantly contribute to enhancing the company’s digital finance capabilities, leveraging his extensive experience in the field and his background as an outside director.”
