Hyderabad, Dec 19 (UNI) President Droupdi Murmu on Friday emphasized the need to develop a globally competent civil service.
Addressing the two -day 26th National Conference of Chairpersons of the UPSC and State Public Service Commissions (PSC’s) organized by the Telangna State Public Service commission (TGPSC) held at Ramoji film City here, Murmu expressed confidence that the conference deliberations would lead to useful, future-oriented solutions aligned with the evolving role of Public Service Commissions.
The President observed that Public Service Commissions must anticipate emerging challenges, particularly in the field of technology, while further strengthening transparency and credibility in recruitment processes.
She stated that the Conference serves as an important platform for fostering cooperation among Public Service Commissions and for sharing best practices.
She also stressed that civil servants should be sensitive to the needs of marginalized and vulnerable sections of society, be gender-sensitive, and remain committed to inclusive governance.
The President congratulated all Chairpersons and conveyed her best wishes for the success of the Conference.
The Conference was inaugurated by the President in the august presence of the Governor of Telangana Jishnu Dev Varma; the Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, D. Anasuya Seethakka; the Chairperson, union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Dr. Ajay Kumar, IAS (Retd.); and the Chairman, Telangana State Public Service Commission, Burra Venkatesham, IAS (VR).
Speaking on the occasion, , Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma while congratulating the Telangana State Public Service Commission for hosting the national-level Conference in Hyderabad, expressed hope that the deliberations would significantly enhance the efficiency, transparency, and credibility of Public Service Commissions across the country.
Addressing the gathering, UPSC Chairperson, Dr. Ajay Kumar, noted that the year marks the centenary of the union Public Service Commission and outlined a vision to establish a Centre of Excellence to improve the standards and functioning of Public Service Commissions through the adoption of best practices and advanced technologies.
TGPSC Chairman Burra Venkatesham expressed pride and gratitude for the resident’s presence, stating that it would motivate all Public Service Commissions to perform their duties with renewed commitment and excellence.
He informed that the Chairperson of UPSC and Chairpersons of 24 State Public Service Commissions are participating in the Conference.
On the first day of the Conference, deliberations were held on themes including technology upgradation and IT interventions, the use of blockchain technology in recruitment processes, and improvements in the interview process. The discussions were constructive and highly fruitful.
