Hull bring in midfielders Gyabi and Hadziahmetovic

Hull City have signed Leeds midfielder Darko Gyabi on a three-year deal and brought in Amir Hadziahmetovic from Besiktas on a season-long loan.

Hadziahmetovic, a defensive midfielder, arrives at the MKM Stadium with the Tigers having lost their past two Championship games.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international has made over 200 appearances in Turkish Super Lig for Konyaspor, with whom he won the Turkish Cup in the 2016-17 season, and Besiktas.

The 28-year-old was born in Denmark but started his career with Zeljeznicar in Bosnia.

He has won 30 caps for his country, but has not been involved since 2023.

The player is known to manager Sergej Jakirovic, a fellow Bosnian who coached in Turkey last season.

Hadziahmetovic said: “The coach called me one month ago. He worked in Turkey last year, so I know his mentality and how he wants to play. He likes to play offensive football and his team to be aggressive, which suits me as a player.

“My best qualities are passing, build-up game – more like a playmaker. I think I can be a good help to the team.”

Central midfielder Gyabi joins from Leeds United on a three-year deal, with the option of a further year.

The 21-year-old has made 54 Championship appearances across two loan spells with Plymouth Argyle over the past two campaigns and was the Pilgrims’ young player of the year last season.

Gyabi joined Manchester City’s academy in 2018, winning two Under-23 and two U18 titles before moving to Leeds in a £5m deal in July 2022.

He has played five senior matches for the Whites, including once in the Premier League against his former club Manchester City.

On the international stage, Gyabi has represented England at six youth levels, beginning with the Under-15s and most recently earning two caps for the U21s last November.

“The manager was clear with how he likes to play and where he sees me fitting into the team,” Gyabi told the club website.

“It’s a good place for me to come to improve, learn and kick on – and help the team push forward.

“I like to make an impact at both ends of the pitch. I want to score more goals, defend, help the team and be creative.”
