
A blaze has erupted at a recycling facility in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. Residents have been urged to shut their windows and doors because of the smoke, whilst emergency crews are at the location.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service stated: “We are currently dealing with a fire at a recycling yard on Griffin Road in Ilkeston. Please avoid the area while emergency services deal with the incident. Due to smoke from the fire, please keep windows and doors closed in the area.”
Images reveal thick smoke pouring from the site and climbing above nearby homes.
One onlooker reported being able to see and smell the smoke from two miles distance, reports the Mirror.
