Liverpool residents are bracing for a turbulent beginning to the week as Storm Floris barrels in, bringing a yellow wind warning with it. The warning stretches across Merseyside from 6am tomorrow (Monday August 4) until midnight. Met Office forecasters expect gusts up to 40-50 mph.
This evening into the early hours could begin dry, but patchy rain and increasing cloud will mark the arrival of the storm. Winds will intensify overnight, peaking through Monday afternoon. Gusts will be accompanied by heavy rain between around 10am and 12pm.
Although clouds will gradually clear in the afternoon with sunny spells returning, strong winds will remain through until Tuesday evening. With storm‑affected travel, power outages and flying debris possible, caution is advised – especially near the Mersey banks, parks, and waterfronts.
